Here I present Robert Louis Stevenson, “Doctor Jekyll and Mister Hyde “, 1886 a psychological science-fiction novel. The psychology of “alter-ego” (split-personality) is the plot storyline. Johann L. W. Thudichum, “The Chemical Constitution of the Brain”, 1884 is the foundational start of “neurochemistry”. In Robert Louis Stevenson’s, “Doctor Jekyll and Mister Hyde”, 1886 the main character Henry Jekyll uses a potion (brain serum) that causes him switch between good and evil. The brain serum reveals alter-egos and split-personalities. The phrase “Jekyll & Hyde” is today part of popular culture.
