Here I present: Fred Gissoni, “Using the Cranmer ABACUS’ for the Blind”, 1964, PART FOUR (IV).
INTRODUCTION.
The Taylor arithmetic board and Cranmer’ abacus combination is the topic of this blog post.
The advantage of the Taylor arithmetic board lies in one (1) peg for all arithmetic symbols. BELOW is the representation of the one (1) peg for all arithmetic symbols.

Nicholas Saunderson
(1682-1739), an English mathematician invented the first arithmetic board for the blind. Englishman William Taylor, invented in the 1800’s the Taylor arithmetic board that easier to use. When a student advances beyond arithmetic to algebra, one (1) peg for algebra symbols is added to the Taylor arithmetic board.
