Here I present: Terrence Deacon, “The Symbolic Species: The Co-Evolution of Language & Brain”, PART THREE (3).
INTRODUCTION.
Reading is under-represented by Terrance Deacon in his book. This blog post adds some things that general readers often discuss when considering reading.
The fusiform gyrus is anatomically the structure for function of reading. Fusiform gyrus is also called Brodmann Area #37. More specifically, the Fusiform Gyrus in Brodmann Area is involved in “pattern recognitions”.
In language reception, three (3) different modalities are anatomically available: 1. eye, 2. ear, or 3. finger are reading inputs to the brain.

EXAMPLE: Persian Braille.
BENEATH is the Persian alphabet, and Persian Braille is also ATOP this blog post. A Braille cell is a set of numbers choices: 1 2 3 4 5 6. The perception of the numerical idea is “Braille reading”.
