INTRODUCTION.
Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is a subtype of acute leukemia, a cancer of the white blood cells. Somatically acquired mutations in several genes have been identified in ALL lymphoblasts, cells in the early stages of differentiation. Germline variation in certain genes may also predispose to susceptibility to ALL.
A susceptibility locus for acute lymphoblastic leukemia type-1 (ALL1) has been mapped to cytogenetic location 10q21 and genomic coordinates 10:51,100,001-68,800,000. The screenshot of the ALL1 gene 17,700,000 bp (base pairs) of DNA sequence length is shown BELOW. Nine (9) other genes besides ALL1 are listed BENEATH.
