INTRODUCTION.
An intracranial aneurysm, is a cerebrovascular disorder characterized by a localized dilation (ballooning) of a blood vessel in the brain due to a weakness in the vessel wall. These aneurysms can occur in any part of the brain but are most commonly found in the arteries of the circle of Willis. The risk of rupture varies with the size and location of the aneurysms, with those in the posterior circulation being more prone to rupture. Rupture of an intracranial aneurysm (an outpouching or sac-like widening of a cerebral artery) leads to a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a sudden-onset disease that can lead to severe disability and death.
There is evidence of intracranial berry aneurysms (ANIB1) association with cytogenetic location 2q33.1 and genomic coordinates 2:196,600,001-202,500,000. The screenshot of the ANB1 gene 5,900,000 bp (base pairs) of DNA sequence length is shown BELOW. Nine (9) other genes besides ANB1 in the 2q33.1 cytogenetic location are listed BENEATH.
