History required writing to begin; and Prehistory to stop.
COMMENTS.
Irving Finkel and Jonathan Taylor, Cuneiform’, 2015 was the topic of an earlier blog post.
I quote from this book on cuneiform writing BELOW.
Page 7. “Cuneiform traces its roots back to a momentous episode for the world around 3,500 BC when, for the first time ever, someone came up with the idea of writing. Prehistory stopped; history began.”
Page 10. “A story from about 1,800 BC told how long ago Enmerkar 𒂗𒈨𒅕𒃸, king of the ancient city of Uruk, MESOPOTAMIA’ was locked in a battle of wits with a rival king who lived across the mountains. Enmerkar 𒂗𒈨𒅕𒃸 invented cuneiform writing logograms specifically to help his messenger remember ever more complicated messages.”
History required writing; and Enmerkar 𒂗𒈨𒅕𒃸 with Huang Di 黃帝 were the inventors of written history. The list of Michael H. Hart is BELOW.
