Harland Sanders (1890-1980), “Twenty Favorite Recipes of Colonel Harland Sanders“, 1954 was the topic of an earlier blog post.
Harland Sanders, “Process of Producing Fried Chicken Under Pressure“, 12 April 1966, US. Patent #3,245,800. also was the topic of an earlier blog post.
Here I present: S. Truett Cathy (1921-2014), “It’s Easier to Succeed than to Fail”, 1989 which was a restauranteur book by the founder of “Chick-Fil-A” restaurants. The book is an autobiography of S. Truett Cathy (1921-2014).
S. Truett Cathy was born in Eatonton, Georgia USA in 1921. He founded the fast-food restaurant chain “Chick-Fil-A” in 1946 in Atlanta, Georgia. Cathy is different from Harland Sanders on chicken. “Chick-Fil-A” is boneless, fillet of chicken. In contrast, KFC is bone-in, chicken seasoned with “eleven herbs and spices”.
I show BELOW a dozen birds that one might find in an American poultry shop. S. Truett Cathy & Harland Sanders (before Cathy) “succeeded” as restaurant chefs because the average person does not have broad knowledge of poultry. The picture BELOW, most people do not even know which bird is which.

Jacob Shelton at the “Ranker” website has a ranking of “The Best Kind of Bird to Eat“. Chicken is ranked #1 on the list shown BELOW. Americans annually eat per capita: 90 pounds of Chicken, 16 pounds of Turkey, and 1 pound of Duck. Pheasant, Quail & Goose (listed BELOW) are birds that Americans have tasted. The 90 pounds of Chicken eat annually by Americans, is greater than the 54 pounds of Beef & 50 pounds of Pork eaten. Chicken remains the “main dish” choice for American dinners.
