The accurate measurement of global average temperature change (shown in the chart above); and, speculative extrapolations of global temperature are today common. The science fiction sub-genre of
“steampunk” focuses on the 1700’s for “low tech” & “high moral” (“cyberpunk” by contrast is “hi tech” & “low moral” of today).
