Louis Braille, “Procedure for Writing Words, Music and Plainsong in Dots, 1829 was the topic of an earlier blog post.
Here I present: Tversky, Morrison, Franklin & Bryant, “Three Spaces of Spatial Cognition”, PROFESSIONAL GEOGRAPHER, 1999.
INTRODUCTION.
Tactile sensors in the skin are five (5):
- Meissner corpuscles
- Pacinian corpuscles
- Riffini corpuscles
- Merkel disks
- Free-Nerve endings
These five (5) tactile sensors are shown in schematic diagram ABOVE. Homunculus is a term for “inner man” by neurologist for brain cerebral cortex representation. For Louis Braille’ and other blind persons tactile sensors and ears are used in three (3) spaces:
- Space of body.
- Space around body.
- Space of navigating the body.
