INTRODUCTION.
Ewing sarcoma is a type of pediatric cancer, that forms in bone or soft tissue. Symptoms may include swelling and pain at the site of the tumor, fever, and a bone fracture. The most common areas where it begins are the legs, pelvis, and chest wall. In about 25% of cases, the cancer has already spread to other parts of the body at the time of diagnosis.
Ewing sarcoma is a highly malignant, metastatic, primitive small round cell tumor of bone and soft tissue that affects children and adolescents. It was first described by J. Ewing in 1921 as a diffuse endothelioma of bone.
The ETV1 gene is involved in chromosomal translocations, which result in multiple fusion proteins including EWS-ETV1 in Ewing sarcoma and at least 10 ETV1 partners in prostate cancer. The screenshot of the ETV1 gene 100,197 bp (base pairs) of DNA sequence length is shown BELOW. Nine (9) other genes besides genomic coordinates 7:13,891,229-13,991,425 ETV1 on cytogenetic location 7p21.2 are listed BENEATH.
