Here I present: Jean-Michael Claverie & Cedric Notredame, “Bioinformatics for Dummies”, 2011, PART THREE (3).
INTRODUCTION.
Margaret Dayhoff, “Atlas of Protein Sequence and Structure”, 1965 is the beginning of the term “bioinformatics”. Margaret Dayhoff pioneered in “bioinformatics” and was the first person to coin the term “bioinformatics”. Margaret Dayhoff was professor at Georgetown University in Washington DC until 1983. Today, “bioinformatics” is a career option especially in the applied area of “medical informatics”.
ABOVE are “Venn diagrams” that represent “bioinformatics” from both scientist and clinician viewpoints.
