Here I present: Avi Bachenheimer, “OLD PERSIAN: Dictionary, Glossary, Concordance”, 2018.
INTRODUCTION.
In seven (7) chapters, author Avi Bachenheimer presents an account of the Old Persian language that encompasses its corpus, glossary and concordance. For the first time, a book provides a dictionary of every single cuneiform term that is attested in the Old Persian language and it contains a comprehensive analysis of each word, its orthographic representation, its linguistic roots and its corresponding declensions across the extant sources.
COMMENTS.
The book is best in its class. New Persian & Old Persian is two (2) sides-of-the-same coin-script. Scripts of the same Persian language are two (2). Cuneiform takes one back to 3,500 BC and the beginning of writing. BELOW is a list of “ancient elements” I looked up in the book for cuneiform equivalents.
