Here I present: “Directionality”, Victor McKusick, Mendelian Inheritance in Man’, 1966.
INTRODUCTION.
“Directionality” in discussions of double-helix DNA of an entire human chromosomal DNA is my topic.
Imagine the DNA that you inherited from your parents as a staircase. This staircase rotates (2D) in two (2) directions: clockwise & counter-clockwise. Since it’s a helical (3D) staircase traffic can “rotate directionally” upstairs and downstairs at same time. BENEATH is a diagram of a spiral (2D) and a helix (3D) showing “directional rotation”. In Victor McKusick, Mendelian Inheritance in Man’, 1966 it is assumed you can envision the double-helix chromosomal DNA as a staircase.
