“A picture is worth a thousand words; but a formula is worth a thousand pictures”.

Ian Stewart, “In Pursuit of the Unknown: 17 Equations that Changed the World”, 2012, PART THREE (3) was the topic of an earlier blog post.
Here I present: Ian Stewart, “In Pursuit of the Unknown’: 17 Equations that Changed the World”, 2012, PART SEVEN (7).
INTRODUCTION.
In this blog post I discuss formulas in biochemistry’ and chemistry’ that are not included in the seventeen (17) listed by Ian Stewart.
In PART THREE (3) it was the presentation of seven (7) enzyme equations (shown BELOW). These seven (7) formula changed the world.

Dmitri Mendeleev presented eight (8) “group formula” for molecular elements’ (shown BENEATH). These eight (8) formula changed the world.
GROUP FORMULAS.
Group I. – / R2O.
Group II. – / RO.
Group III. – / R2O3.
Group IV. RH4 / RO2.
Group V. RH3 / R2O5.
Group VI. RH2 / RO3.
Group VII. RH / R2O7.
Group VIII. – / RO4.
Antoine Lavoisier, in his 1789 research presented the elements shown BELOW.

The complete periodic table of Dmitri Mendeleev is shown BELOW, that includes more elements than was known to Lavoisier. NOTE the “table” has two (2) sections: right & left.

The genius of 1789 Antoine Lavoisier that 1866 Dmitri Mendeleev recognized was reduction (H, hydrogen) and oxidation (O, oxygen) of elements
The periodic table shown above with the “group formula” of Dmitri Mendeleev are not included in the Ian Stewart book. The Dmitri Mendeleev formula changed the world.
