Here I presented: Gail Borden Jr., “Improvements in the Concentration of Milk”, 19 August 1856, US PATENT #15,553.
COMMENTS.
This era of “canning history” featured two great names: Joseph Campbell (1817-1900) of the “soup” company; and, Gail Borden Jr. (1801-1874) of the “dairy” company. BELOW is the solution to the problem of “microbes” in food processing. The application of “heat” killed the germs. This is an era when “pasteurization” is just beginning. Raw milk is changed by the temperature, and prevented from spoiling is the invention in 1856 of Gail Borden Jr.
The headquarters of Borden’s Dairy is Dallas, Texas USA; and, cow milk is still their main product today
