On December 13, 1937, 南京 Nanking (the capital city of Nationalist China) fell to the Japanese. After a half-year struggle against Chiang Kai-shek’s army the Japanese forces get a triumphant victory. For Chinese forces, whose defense of Shanghai failed; the fall of 南京 Nanking was a bitter (near fatal) defeat.
