Harrison Horblit, “100 Books Famous in the History of Science”, Grolier Club Publication, New York, 1964 was the topic of an earlier blog post.  Claudius Ptolemy (100-170), “Almagest” & “Geograhpy”, 150 AD are among the 100 famous books in the history of science.  The Library of Alexandria, EGYPT was the largest in the ancient world and Claudius Ptolemy worked at the Library of Alexandria.  The Scientific Revolution of 1543 was Claudius Ptolemy versus Nicolaus Copernicus competing books in astronomy.  “Almagest” by Claudius Ptolemy 150 AD was the book Nicolaus Copernicus challenged and defeated.  “Geography”, by Claudius Ptolemy 150 AD was among the first books printed using the Gutenberg Press of 1439.
