INTRODUCTION.
Sjogren syndrome is an autoimmune disease that mainly affects the exocrine glands. It is clinically characterized by keratoconjunctivitis sicca and xerostomia.
Sjögren Autoantigens: Focuses heavily on “tripartite motif-containing protein-21″ (TRIM21) an E3 ubiquitin ligase and innate immune sensor, alongside TROVE2 and SSB.
Target Tissues: Features are histologically of Salivary and Lacrimal glands undergoing immune infiltration, leading to acinar/ductal damage and reduced secretion.
