INTRODUCTION.
Recipes, tasting, and cooking are things I first started posting on this blog. The thing I find most interesting about home cooking is regional kitchen utensils.
Raghavan Iyer (1961-2023), “Betty Crocker’s Indian Home Cooking”, 2001 was a chance for me to equip my kitchen with utensils from South Asia. Earlier my American kitchen had East Asian kitchen utensils (I lived in Tokyo, before moving to Los Angeles). I don’t consider East Asian and South Asian a problem. Buddhist influences on culinary culture, makes Indian and Japanese compatible. The same kitchen utensils in Indian cookery, have different names because India is a country of many languages. Again, “Betty Crocker’s Indian Home Cooking”, for me to use Indian utensils, and the recipes I enjoyed preparing with Indian kitchenware.
