INTRODUCTION.
The intensive Japanese courses give foreign-language students two (2) sessions of five (5) weeks each to learn one-thousand (1,000) characters.
The rate is one-hundred (100) characters per week in forty (40) hours of classroom weeks. Andrew Nelson, “Japanese-English Character Dictionary”, 1997 has characters listed by “strokes” for lookup.
BELOW is fifty-seven (57) starting characters for your learning to count “strokes” in looking up characters in the dictionary. Having to learn fifteen (15) characters every night, Braille was an approach to retain in memory “intensive learning” language class I used.
