Here I present: “Non Small-Cell Lung Cancer”, Victor McKusick, Mendelian Inheritance in Man’, 1966. 非小細胞肺癌。(IRF1).
INTRODUCTION.
Non small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is any type of epithelial lung cancer other than small-cell lung cancer. NSCLC accounts for about 85% of all lung cancers. As a class, NSCLC is relatively insensitive to chemotherapy, compared to small-cell carcinoma.
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S. and worldwide. The 2 major forms of lung cancer are non small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and small cell lung cancer which account for 85% and 15% of all lung cancers, respectively. Non small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) can be divided into 3 major histologic subtypes:squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma, and large cell lung cancer.
There is evidence that non small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) can be caused by a mutation in the interferon regulatory factor-1 (IRF1) gene on cytogenetic location 5q31.1 and genomic coordinates 5:132,481,609-132,490,773. The screenshot of the IRF1 gene 9,165 bp (base pairs) of DNA sequence length is shown BELOW. Nine (9) other genes besides IRF1 in the 5q31.1 cytogenetic location are listed BENEATH.
