Here I presented: Zachary Schrag, “The Great Society Subway: A History of the Washington Metro”,2014, PART THREE (III).
INTRODUCTION.
I was a resident of Washington DC for several years; and I have an intimate knowledge of the DC Metro subway (map shown ABOVE).
Takoma Station (shown ABOVE) on the RED LINE was the closest subway stop in my neighborhood. On the RED LINE the Medical Center station stop is the location for the US National Library of Medicine (NLM).
The NLM was founded in 1836 and is the largest biomedical library in the world. Washington DC also has the Library of Congress (LOC). The LOC has the largest library collection of scientific books in the world. If biomedical, scientific books are your interest the NLM & LOC are stops for you on the Washington DC Metro.
