INTRODUCTION.

Today direct-to-consumer DNA companies (Ancestry, Familytree, 23&Me … others) offer human Mitochondrial DNA results from a mailed in buccal sample of saliva.  This is possible because human Mitochondrial DNA was structurally determined in 1981. The publication of this result is the topic of this blog post.

COMMENTS.

Oxygen is converted into Water in the Mitochondria.  Oxygen pathway reactions are shown ABOVE.  Mitochondrial DNA is used by genealogy companies (Ancestry. Familytree, 23&Me .. etcetera) in location mapping (shown BELOW). The “human migration of Mitochondrial DNA” is accepted as standard results today from genealogy companies.
