Here I present: Brian Butterworth, “Foundational Numerical Capacities and the Origins of Dyscalculia”, 2010, PART TWO (II).
INTRODUCTION.
Pythagoras (570 BC–495 BC) was the author of historically the earliest equation listed by Ian Stewart, “17 Equations that Changed the World”, 2012 (shown BELOW).

The “Equation of Time” has two (2) causes:
#1. The plane of the Earth equator is inclined to the plane of the Earth orbit around the Sun.
#2. The orbit of the Earth around the Sun is an ellipsis and not a circle.
“Sundials” are not accurate “clocks” for timekeeping because of the ABOVE two (2) facts. The graph of the “Equation of Time” is shown BELOW; and the difference between clock (mean) and sundial (apparent) solar time is depicted.

COMMENTS.
The “Origins of Dyscalculia”, 2010 was the topic of Brian Butterworth.
The “Equation of Time” is an ancient mathematical formulation (shown BELOW). The “hourglass” was a “water clock” known in MESOPOTAMIA’ versus “sundial” of Prehistory.

School and Learning are where “dyscalculia” are diagnosed as a “number sense deficit”.
Passing from first (1st) to second (2nd) grades prerequisites are: basic knowledge of numbers and the ability to write/recognize numbers 1-20.
Concepts to include “time telling”, “counting money coins”, and “number addition”.
