MUSIC HISTORY. The first piece of music in history is a Mesopotamian’ song. The Mesopotamia’ Hurrian language is the source of 1,400 BC “Hymn to Nikkal” 𐎐𐎋𐎍 “nkl”.

The 1,400 BC “Hymn to Nikkal” 𐎐𐎋𐎍 “nkl” is the oldest song in music history. Several cuneiform tables and fragments have been excavated such as two (2) shown ABOVE.
Chromatic Solfège Chart is the contribution to singing “religious chants” that was historic, and shown ABOVE.

COMMENTS.

The purpose of this blog post was to present ancient writings much earlier than medieval Guido of Arezzo, “Micrologus”, 1026 AD.

 

Writing began in Sumeria Mesopotamia’ around 3,500 BC; and, music-writing began in Ugarit Mesopotamia’ in 1,400 BC.   The Nikkal Hymn can be heard on YouTube.
