Arthur Koestler, “Act of Creation”, 1964 was the topic of an earlier blog post.
- Here I present: Dwight McSmith, “Periodic Table’ Display Device”, #3,724,098 US PATENT, 3 April 1973.
Arthur Koestler, “The Act of Creation”, 1964 book was a study in creativity in humor, art and science, It laid out creativity in the diagram above as, a moment of three “interjections” (defined as abrupt remarks). These three syntax elements’ are in humor, science, and art: “HA-HA’, “AHA” & “AHH” moments of time. Temporally, “creativity” is clearly when creativity occurs at the “interjection”.- Here I presented: Dwight McSmith, “Periodic Table’ Display Device”, #3,724,098 US PATENT, 3 April 1973.
SUMMARY.
Arthur Koestler, “Act of Creation”, 1964 presented the diagram BELOW. The diagram shows “Chemistry” at the far left as where objectivity and verifiability exist. All other areas emotional and subjective.
- Dwight McSmith, “Periodic Table’Display Device”, #3,724,098 US PATENT, 3 April 1973 is in my opinion creative. However, while Chemistry is what is displayed by the device, this is not an AHA interjection moment of science. The creator of the patent is here artistic; and, at the moment of creation the AHH interjection is of an artist. The flat chart is BELOW; and, the spatial display of Dwight McSmith is more interesting in viewing from all sides.
