Tanaquil Le Clercq (1929-2000), “The Ballet Cookbook”, 1966 was a cookbook by the wife of choreologist George Balanchine. Tanaquil Le Clercq is shown in the above photograph seated with husband George Balanchine.
Tanaquil Le Clercq was married to Balanchine from 1952 to 1969; and, she was a ballerina dancer.
Tanaquil Le Clercq’s recipes include in the cookbook are after she contracted “poliovirus” in 1956. Poliovirus shortened her ballet career; however, Tanaquil Le Clercq was born in 1929 and lived until 2000 (aged 71 years). The recipes in the cookbook were a turning point in her eating lifestyle.
Tanaquil Le Clercq (1929-2000), “The Ballet Cookbook”, 1966 was a cookbook by the wife of choreologist George Balanchine. Elizabeth Andoh, “Kansha: Celebrating Japan’s Vegan and Vegetarian Traditions”, 2010 was the topic of an earlier blog post. Elizabeth Andoh, “Washoku: Recipes from the Japanese Home Kitchen”, 2005 also was the topic of an earlier blog post.
