”, 2008.

INTRODUCTION.

This is a fiction book that sold six million (6,000,000) copies in 2008.  Fantasy is the best description for this novel. SciFi and Fantasy tend be blurred often.  Peter Nicholls, “The Science in Science Fiction”, 1982 asks a question?  SciFi/Fantasy has a “science” element that is fundamental to the story.   This science in Stephenie Meyer, “TWILIGHT SAGA: Breaking Dawn”, 2008 is “cytogenetics”.  “Cytogenetics” is the study of chromosomes using a microscope.   The number of chromosomes is species specific: Homo sapiens (humans) have twenty-three (23) chromosome pairs.

COMMENTS.

Breaking Dawn”, pages 236-237.  “Humans have 23 chromosome pairs (shown BELOW): but Vampires have 24 and Werewolves 25 chromosome pairs”.   This difference in chromosome numbers imparts “magical” powers to Werewolves and Vampires.   Cytogenetics is fundamental to the plot basis of this six million (6,000,000) copies sold book.
