Here I present: Jagadish Chandra Bose জগদীশ চন্দ্র বসু ,“Runaway Cyclone” পলাতক তুফান (Palatak Tuphan), 1896 which was a “weather control” SciFi from India.  The “Bay of Bengal” in the Indian Ocean is a place where cyclones make “landfall” in Burma (Myanmar), Bangladesh, and West Bengal, INDIA often (shown in the diagram ABOVE).  Besides the “cyclones”, the other tropical storms called are the “typhoon” & the “hurricane” depending upon location.

Shown ABOVE  is “Cyclone Nargis” which on 2 May 2008 made landfall in Burma (Myanmar).  Over 138,373 deaths occurred when this Bay of Bengal cyclone made landfall.

Calcutta, West Bengal, INDIA in 1864 was the site of a Bay of Bengal cyclone.  The “1864 Calcutta Cyclone” was a tropical storm that killed over 60,000 people in Calcutta, West Bengal, INDIA.

ABOVE is the bookcover of:  Jagadish Chandra Bose জগদীশ চন্দ্র বসু ,“Runaway Cyclone” পলাতক তুফান (Palatak Tuphan), 1896 which was a “weather control” SciFi.   J. C.  Bose with this writing produced one of the earliest Bengali-language. SciFi in 1896.  The English title “Runaway Cyclone” contains the story plot.  The Meteorological Office published news on 27 October that a clone had formed in the Bay of Bengal, and landfall was imminent on Calcutta, INDIA.   2 October, that Meteorological Office published the news that the cyclone had “runaway” without leaving a trace.  Thus, the title of  the J. C. Bose story “Runaway Cyclone”.  The story gives explanations of what happened to the runaway cyclone that are all scientific reasons.

David Longshore, “Encyclopedia of Hurricanes, Typhoons & Cyclones”, 2008 is a good reference book on tropical storms.
