INTRODUCTION.
Giemsa is a nucleic acid stain, that interculates into DNA between the base pairs of the double helix DNA strand.
If the region of a chromosome is AT-rich the stained image is BLACK.
If the region of a chromosome is GC-rich the image appears WHITE.
Regions of a chromosome with AT=GC appear as GRAY images.
EXAMPLE.
Mouse-Human Chromosome Synteny’ can be inferred from Geimsa-stained karyotypes, similar to those shown BELOW.
