INTRODUCTION.

Mayan Calendrical System  is depicted on the shirt ATOP. The symbol in the very center, is a swirl of black and white is the symbol of the Maya nation.

The Maya used a sophisticated system that combined a 260-day sacred calendar (Tzolk’in) and a 365-day civil calendar (Haab). The glyphs BELOW represent the components of the calendar “Tee-Shirt” ABOVE (available from AMAZON online).

Day Glyphs.

The first two rows of glyphs represent the 20 day names of the Tzolk’in calendar. Each day was associated with a specific deity or concept and a number from 1 to 13.

Month Glyphs.

The third and fourth rows show the glyphs for the 18 months of 20 days each in the Haab calendar, plus a short 5-day month called Wayeb.

Numerals’.

The bottom section rows displays the Mayan numeral system, which was vigesimal (base-20). Numbers were written vertically using just three symbols: a dot for one (1), a bar for five (5), and a shell-like symbol for zero (0).
