INTRODUCTION.  

The DLC1 gene (deletion in liver cancer) is deleted in the primary  tumor of hepatocellular carcinoma. It maps to 8p22, a region frequently deleted in solid tumors. It is suggested that this gene is a candidate tumor suppressor gene for human liver cancer, as well as for prostate, lung, colorectal, and breast cancers.

There is evidence that deletion in liver cancer type-1  is caused by mutation in the Rho GTPase activating protein (DLC1on cytogenetic location 8 p22 and genomic coordinates 8:13,083,361-13,604,620.  The screenshot of the DLC1 gene 521,260 bp (base pairs) of DNA sequence length is shown BELOW.  Nine (9) other genes besides DLC1 in the cytogenetic location 8p22 are listed BENEATH.
