Here I present: “Alcohol Dehydrogenase”, Victor McKusick, Mendelian Inheritance in Man’, 1966(ADH) 酒精脫氫酶icd10=K70.9

INTRODUCTION.

The ADH1A gene encodes the alpha subunit of class-I alcohol dehydrogenase  (Enzyme Commission number EC 1.1.1.1), an enzyme that catalyzes the rate-limiting step for ethanol metabolism: the oxidation of alcohol to acetaldehyde. Class 1 ADH is a homo- or heterodimeric molecule, formed by the association of 3 types of class I ADH subunits, alpha, beta (ADH1B), and gamma (ADH1C). The ADH subunit proteins belonging to class I, based on sequence and structural similarities, are closely linked within an 80-kb region on cytogenetic location  4q23 and account for most of the ethanol-oxidizing capacity in the liver.

There is evidence that the alcohol dehydrogenase alpha-subunit of class-I (ADH1A) is encoded on cytogenetic location 4q23 and genomic coordinates 4:99,276,369-99,290,985. The screenshot of the ADH1A gene 14,617 bp (base pairs) of DNA sequence length is shown BELOW.  Nine (9) other genes besides ADH1A in the 4q23 cytogenetic location are listed BENEATH.
