Arthur C. Edwards, “Practical Lessons in Melody-Writing”, 1963 was the topic of an earlier blog post.
Here I present: Arthur C. Edwards, “Practical Lessons in Melody-Writing”, 1963, PART TWO (2).
INTRODUCTION.
I said John Newlands was an example of what in Arthur Koestler, “Act of Creation”, 1964 explained. Arthur Koestler, stated that the “act of creation” occurs at the time of interjections listed ABOVE in the table. Humorists have “haha” moments: scientists have “aha” moments: artists have “ah” moments.
Again the ABOVE table of Arthur Koestler, the scientist “act of creation” is a “hidden analogy”. Artists use “metaphor”, humorist use “comic simile”.
BELOW is list “music scales”. The major scale is: whole, whole, half, whole, whole, whole, half. The major scale note intervals are: WWHWWWH is simply W5H2. I start on C the other notes this scale are: CDEFGABC. The intervals between CDEFGABC are WWHWWWH even if the keynote is changed from C.
COMMENTS.
BELOW is the periodic table of John Newlands. The group formula is a “hidden analogy” between Music and Chemistry. Diametrically opposite subjects brought together in the “aha” interjection moment. Creativity is a moment of the interjections: “haha”, “aha”, or “ah”. Creativity is combining what does go together by: humorist, scientists, or artists.
