“Breast Cancer”, Victor McKusick, “Mendelian Inheritance in Man”, 1966.

ABOVE is the twenty-four (24) hour day of  CHROMOSOMIC CLOCK and this time is seventeen (#17).

Here I present: Breast Cancer”, Victor McKusick,  Mendelian Inheritance in Man’, 1966.

INTRODUCTION.

Prohibitin is a 30-kD intracellular, antiproliferative protein.  The prohibitin gene (PHB) located on the breast cancer type-A1 (BRCA1) chromosome region 17q21.33 was originally thought to be a negative regulator of cell proliferation and a tumor suppressor. This anti-proliferative activity was later attributed to the 3′ untranslated region of the PHB gene, and not to the actual protein. Mutations in human PHB have been linked to sporadic breast cancer.

PHB1 (prohibitin, type-1) is a breast cancer gene on cytogenetic location  17q21.33  and genomic coordinates17:49,404,052-49,414,882 . The screenshot of the 10,831 bp (base pairs) of DNA length of the PHB1 gene is shown BELOW.
