Wassily Kandinsky described the “point” as a result of initial collision of “the  tool” with the ” “material plane”.   In prehistory, graphic art (paint/sculpt) occurred before literary art (writing).  Cooking (culinary art) is believed to have resulted human speech (due to larger brains).  

Depiction was the subject of the artist treatise on painting as an expressive art.  Depiction “point and line to plane”(graphic art)  is comparable to ”abc” (speaking)…”do re me”(singing) in symbolic thinking.

The “thinking traits” (depiction, speaking, singing) associated with the increase in cranial volume in human evolution resulting from cooking of food.
