“Flow Cytometers sort Chromosomes and Blood Cells”.
twinkl22004
Flow cytometers sort blood cells, or suspensions of chromosomes into individual test tubes. The device is shown schematically in the diagram above. A suspension of cells or chromosomes flows as droplets in front of laser light. The scattered and fluorescent lights are used electrically to deflect droplets that contain the appropriate cell or chromosome. The flow cytometer is fundamental instrument in todays DNA laboratory.
